Wes Taylor-Ortiz
Moderator/Consultant
As a Moderator and Consultant, Wes works with dealership owners and leaders through 20 Group facilitation, one-on-one consulting, dealership visits, and financial and composite analysis. His focus is centered on helping dealers improve financial performance through improved process, culture, and accountability while staying relevant in an automotive industry that continues to evolve rapidly.
Wes believes strongly in the relationship between people, process, and product, as well as developing leaders who take ownership of both their results and their teams. His goal for every client he works with to leave a meeting or consulting engagement with practical, actionable items they can take back to their dealership and use to make a measurable impact on the business.
Wes believes people perform at their best when they understand not only what is expected of them, but why it matters. He is passionate about helping dealerships implement clear expectations, strong processes, accountable leadership, and cultures where both the business and the people within it can succeed. One principle Wes has carried throughout his career is that if people don't know where they are, they can't know where they're going. In this view, you can't manage what you don't measure, and a process isn't truly a process if it only exists in someone's head.
He believes that when leaders create clarity, accountability, and consistency, stronger financial performance and exceptional client experience tend to follow.
Wes brings 15 years of retail automotive experience to NCM. As 3rd generation in the car business, he began his career as a vehicle photographer and progressed through leadership roles including eCommerce and Marketing Director, Internet Director, Sales Manager, F&I Manager, General Sales Manager, and General Manager.
His experience spans sales, F&I, fixed operations, digital retailing, CRM strategy, marketing, expense management, and overall dealership performance. Throughout his career, Wes has helped transform lower or mid-performing operations into high-performing teams, improved sales and financial performance, earned OEM recognition, and developed team members into General Manager and Executive roles. That track record has even earned him a phrase others have used to describe his impact: "Where Wes goes, the business grows."
That broad dealership experience influences the way Wes approaches moderating a 20 Group and consulting with dealers today. He looks at the entire operation and how its people, processes, culture, customer experience, and financial performance affect one another rather than viewing individual departments in isolation.
Wes earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with a Business Emphasis and has completed extensive manufacturer, leadership, and operational training throughout his automotive career.
He has been recognized by the Wichita Business Journal through both its Emerging Leaders program, its 40 Under 40 program, and as one of its Young Professionals in Major Companies. Wes has also been involved in co-founding employee resource groups designed to strengthen employee connection, recruitment, engagement, and inclusion within the workplace.
Outside of work, Wes lives in Houston, Texas, with his spouse and are consistently covered in hair due to their four rescue pugs who make sure the house is rarely quiet. He also serves as a board member for Wyoming Pug Rescue, providing guidance to the board on successful home placement for rescued pugs and "honorary pugs."
He is an avid LEGO enthusiast with a particular appreciation for large and detailed builds (such as the Eiffel Tower, Airbus Concorde, Lamborghini Sian, and other unique sets), and his interest goes well beyond the occasional weekend set. Wes also enjoys cooking and baking, weightlifting, cars, computers and technology, and unwinding with comedy shows and true-crime documentaries or reading up on how to be a stronger leader and honing-in on his professional skillset.
